1. IT’S DARN PAINFUL! STOP THINKING ABOUT THAT WILL YA?
Hair is removed by the root. I’m going to be blatantly honest here. So, I ain’t going to lie to you and say this ain’t gonna hurt honey. However, I can assure you that with an experienceD therapist and the right products, your waxing experience is definitely going to be pleasant.
Before your waxing appointment, try to get into a relaxed state of mind. The mind can be a very powerful thing. If you’re going to think that waxing is painful, IT IS GOING TO BE PAINFUL. It’s all in the mind. Throughout your session, take deep breathes and chat with your therapist.
Sometimes, it helps when you help stretch your skin whilst your therapist is waxing. Trust me, we don’t have enough hands to keep stretching, applying wax and removing the hair for you. Although we try our best, we really only have 2 hands.
2. NEED PROPER HAIR LENGTH, 1/4 OF AN INCH IS GOOD!
Don’t you dare trim your hair before an appointment. You’re not doing your therapist a favour. In fact, she might just send you home because your hair ain’t long enough to be waxed. Don’t even bother going for an appointment a few days after you shave! No wax can ever remove short shaved hair.
3. ONCE YOU START DON’T EVER STOP.
Don’t wax for the novelty of doing it or perhaps because your other half fancies something different for the month. It’s a waste of money and time. Do it because you feel good about it and like cleanliness. Once you start waxing, you should continue every 4 weeks. By doing so, you will have lesser and finer hair.
4. DON’T WAX DURING YOUR PERIOD …
Have mercy on your waxing therapist. It’s gruesome to see blood flowing out even if the therapist is wearing gloves. Your hormones are heighten during your mensus which only means you’ll experience more pain than usual. And, did I mention that the wax will not be able to adhere to the skin or hair? Best to wait it out till it ends and schedule an appointment a week later.
5. EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!
Be a little diligent and exfoliate before waxing. Just so your therapist can remove the hair more efficiently.
